The W Doods
Hi, I'm Stephanie!
I'm the breeder behind The W Doods! Our program focuses on producing diverse medium to standard sized goldendoodles! They are the heart beat of our program. Occasionally we will have AKC poodles, as well! We are located right outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee. We are a family of five and everyone plays a part in our program. All of our dogs are treated like family, live indoors, and live the life they deserve!
A little history on how we fell in love with goldendoodles: While my kids were young we had a chocolate lab and she was an excellent family dog with that classic retriever temperament. I knew our next dog needed to be like her temperament wise but I definitely wanted a low/non shedding dog! We spent time with a few friends’ goldendoodles and absolutely fell in love with their personality traits! They reminded me so much of our lab. They're the perfect family dog that is ready for adventure and then ready to snuggle up on the couch when the day is done. They are extremely intelligent and learn very quickly. We fell in love with their coats! The curls, the softness, and the low/non shedding factor! Our first goldendoodle was a curly coated chocolate girl, named Wynter. You will see her still on our social pages and in the bloodlines we have built. There is no better dog to have been our foundation.
Later on we got our first standard poodle. We quickly realized how similar their personalities were to the Golden and Labrador retrievers that everyone knew and loved. Originally bred to be water retrievers, their athletic build and love of water and retrieving still shines through today. Their coats are curlier and slightly coarser than a goldendoodle, but the maintenance is about equal. We loved that you could get this loyal, adventurous, intelligent spirit in a dog with a non shed coat! We developed a deep love for this breed and you will see poodle parents in our program and occasional AKC poodle litters produced by us.
So! That is why we breed both goldendoodles and poodles! In both breeds, we prefer the temperament on the standard and medium size. Our goal is to breed adaptable, loyal, easily trainable, affectionate dogs and we see that most consistently in the mediums and standards! We will only ever breed what we love!
Our dams and sires are all tested for genetic health conditions via Embark, Animal Genetics, and occasionally UC Davis. We also screen via x-ray for hip and elbow dysplasia and submit to Orthopedic Foundation for Animals and PennHip. Temperaments and structures are also analyzed very closely. We do these things so we can produce the best puppies possible and improve our lines with each breeding!
Our puppies are raised in-home, with a top-rated service dog curriculum. We expose them to different sights, sounds, and situations to best prepare them for the rest of their life. We get them started on crate and potty training. The reviews from our puppy families speak for themselves about how well our methods work!
Puppies go home at 8 weeks old after a thorough vet check, deworming, and with their first round of vaccinations. All of our puppies come with a two year congenital health guarantee. They also go home microchipped, get a fun puppy pack, a custom made puppy guide, & a personalized bandana! You will get access to our "The W Doods Fam" Facebook group and lifetime breeder support!
